Rivers and Tides, by Andy Goldsworthy. This is a documentary about the artist Andy Goldsworthy, who works only with found materials in nature; for example, when making an ice sculpture he wets (often by licking) the ends of the ice pieces in order to adhere them to each other. The documentary follows him as he makes several different pieces, and not only are the pieces extraordinarily beautiful, the making of them is as well. To step a little bit into Mr. Goldsworthy’s shoes is to experience a moving meditation, and to see patterns and wisdom in nature that are readily apparent but only to the very perceptive eye. In a way, it’s an introduction to the beauties of Earth herself, in all her subtleties. Enjoy! I think I’m going to go watch it again… : )
