Derailed. When life is heading in a presumed direction and suddenly … an unexpected turn. Where’s the script? What is the protocol? Who’s in charge of the score?

In this video we see pianist Maria Joao Pires completely thrown off course when the concert she is to play in Amsterdam plays a different piece of music. She has no sheets for it! Worse, the concert is happening – they can’t stop. And so, in the very middle of what might be a catastrophe for her, a pleasant concert for everyone else, she looks inside … and remembers.

When life derails us we all have this ability to remember who we are, and what we can do – and do it. Moving forward while the streams and flows of life continue all around us. We simply have to pause, and look inside.
