Regularly, clients come to me because they want to increase abundance and prosperity in their lives. Abundance and Prosperity comes often into our lives – in fact it is all around us. Rarely does this abundance and prosperity come in the form of money. Here is an example :
When I moved into my new house the old owners left a nearly-new, giant freezer, preferring to let me have it than to pay to move it. I don’t use a freezer. A couple of months later a neighbor, who has helped me with many things in this country including going through the process of getting this new home, was over and saw the freezer – “How great!” She exclaimed. I had been looking for something I could give her to thank her for all the work she has done for me, so I jumped on it : “Is this something you would like? I would love to give it to you!” She was over the moon, and I was equally over the moon to have found something that could please her so much! Now, the question of how to get it to her house.
A week or so later my friend who trims trees for a living showed up with a giant truck (!) to trim my trees for the winter. “You have a giant truck?!” So I ask him if he and his helper can deliver the freezer. “No problem!” They arrive at my neighbor’s house and she is in the middle of making a huge paella. “Sit with us and eat!” She tells them. They can’t, they have work. So she asks them to tell me the next time they will be at my house and she will bring them some paella.
Here’s what “Bring them some paella” looks like:
They tell me a date, and I tell her. That day it just happened to be the most perfect fall day ever – 78 degrees, blue sky, gently falling yellow and orange leaves all around. The guys arrive and work at the house a few hours. Then my neighbor arrives with her husband, both their arms LOADED with food, including the giant paella, including a personal paella made just for me with only kosher meats (non-kosher version in photo), wine, dessert, cheese, bread. We spread a beautiful tablecloth on my table on the terrace, under the giant sycamore tree that my friend had just “groomed”, and we ate a FIVE-COURSE meal over 4 ½ hours (stopping only when the sun went down and we got chilly), laughing, talking, getting to know each other, joking, playing with the dogs, and having a great time. All on a “regular ol’ Tuesday afternoon”.
THAT is abundance and prosperity. And no money changed hands.
If we define abundance and prosperity in monetary terms that’s all we’ll get.
How often do we close ourselves off from seeing all the abundance and prosperity that is all around us, all the opportunities we have to open ourselves to it, to foster it, to create it in our lives? How often we dismiss the things the Universe is trying (hard!) to give us! Two very known dismissals in American-terms are “That’s ok” or “Don’t worry about it.” What would happen if, instead, we said “Yes, Thank you!” to the moments that present themselves?
Challenge : Spend a week paying attention to when doors open and to how you greet them : Do you shut them? Open them wider? Walk through them? Where are opportunities to develop abundance and prosperity in your life? What are you doing to develop them? What can you be doing to develop them?
Happy dreaming!
